Initial Resource Exploration and Evaluation
- Review existing data
EGS will review the available published geological, geochemical, geophysical and reservoir documentation for past exploration programs on the project area. For most areas in the world, significant volume of information has been generated during the last decades for all kind of geoscientific interest; mining, oil & gas or geothermal.
- Remote Sensing prospect reconnaissance via orthophoto, satellite imagery, SRTM, LIDAR
Remote sensing is a useful tool for identifying the surface expression of geotehrmal systems based on characteristic mineral assemblages that result from hydrothermal alteration. This technique has been extensively used to identify hidden geothermal systems throughout the Great Basin. Specific tool like the Radar imagery is particularly useful to recognize major structural elements of the prospect area, these elements are often hidden on surface by the vegetation.

- Geologic mapping
This phase is critical in the exploration phase, the geological mapping include the identification of major structures and lithologic/stratigraphic unit, as well as areas of hydrothermal alteration.

- Structural interpretation and evaluation
These initial activities enable the geologists to better assess the geothermal potential of an area and provide the basis for establishing accurate geologic models on which further exploration efforts are based.
